Eszter Bucz won her second national breaststroke title Saturday at the Hungarian Long Course Nationals in Debrecen, Hungary.

Bucz, who has been training with the South Florida Aquatic Club at its Pembroke Pines Academic Village pool, won the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:11.50.

“I’m really happy with this,” Bucz told SOFLO coach Chris Anderson. “My first 50 was better than my best time and then I died.”

Earlier in the week, Bucz, 20, won the 200-meter breaststroke in 2:34.27, holding off Dorothy Biro, who finished in 2:34.78

On the opening day of nationals, Bucz warmed up by taking a bronze medal in the 50-meter breaststroke in a career-best 33.68.

For Bucz, two gold medals and one bronze was her biggest international medal haul in her young career.

Domestically, she is a Sun Belt Conference champion and school record holder at Florida Atlantic University, where she begins her junior season in the fall.
