With six weeks to go until the Nov. 10-12 FHSAA State Swimming and Diving Championships, the 48th Woodson Invitational at Pine Crest on Wednesday will serve as a training gauge for swimmers and coaches.

The meet was re-scheduled for the second time this year, moved from Oct. 8 because of Yom Kippur.

It was originally moved from Oct. 15 to avoid scheduling conflicts with the Broward County Athletic Association and Palm Beach County Championships.

Pine Crest Aquatic Director and Head Coach Jay Fitzgerald said there was no other date available.

The format has been adjusted from prelim-final to a timed final meet with warm-up at 2 p.m. and the meet beginning at 3 p.m. with both swimming and diving.

The meet has attracted some of South Florida’s top teams including American Heritage Plantation, St. Andrew’s, Westminster Academy, University School, Coral Shores and host Pine Crest.

The state’s oldest swimming invitational will also feature some of the county’s top-ranked swimmers including California-bound Lauren Driscoll, Florida-bound Lindsey McKnight and Yousef Alaskari of American Heritage and Emily Kopas of University School.

Thirteen South Florida Aquatic Club swimmers are entered.
