South Florida Aquatic Club swimmers turned in another outstanding day of swimming at the Florida Gold Coast Area 2 Developmental Meet on Saturday at Nova Southeastern University Aquatic Complex.

Alex Meyer, 9, Andrew McDade, 10, and Charlene Forti, 13, won individual events on the second day of competition.

Meyer swam back-to-back best times and won the 10-and-under 50-meter butterfly in 42.62. He bettered his previous best of 44.99 in morning prelims in 44.71 and came back and swam faster in the championship final.

McDade won the 200-meter freestyle in a best time 3:02.54. He bettered his previous best time of 3:10.78 in morning prelims in 3:05.91.

Forti won the 200-meter freestyle in a best time 2:23.98, bettering her previous best of 2:30.97. She lowered her best time in prelims in 2:28.84 and bettered it in the finals.

In finals, other swimmers turning in best times were:

Daniela Gomez, 12, 200-meter freestyle, dropping from 2:50.73 to 2:45.30 in prelims and 2:43.62 in finals; 50-meter butterfly, dropping from 38.13 to 37.82 in prelims and 36.84 in finals.

Lydia Szakacs, 10, 50-meter butterfly, dropping from 44.87 to 44.44 in prelims and 43.59 in finals; 100-meter backstroke, dropping from 1:46.14 to 1:45.26 in prelims and 1:41.94 in finals.

Maya Ginzburg, 12, 50-meter butterfly, improving her prelims time of 37.75 to 37.02 in finals.

Nicole Gautieri, 15, 50-meter butterfly, dropping from 45.08 to 35.75 in prelims.

Meredith McDade, 7, 100-meter backstroke, dropping from 2:21.69 to 1:59.94 in prelims and 1:53.64 in finals.

Charlene Forti, 13, 100-meter backstroke, dropping from 1:23.14 to 1:20.66 in prelims and 1:19.67 in finals.

Kristin Sauer, 13, 100-meter backstroke, dropping from 1:28.25 to 1:26.95 in prelims and 1:23.22 in finals.

Bar Bogoslavsky, 16, 100-meter backstroke, dropping from 1:22.73 to 1:21.87 in prelims and 1:21.86 in finals.

Joshua Hanks, 8, 50-meter butterfly dropping from 47.24 to 46.41 in prelims and 44.84 in finals.

Brooks Brown, 10, 50-meter butterfly dropping from 48.12 to 47.54 in prelims and 45.03 in finals.

Andrew McDade, 10, dropping from 47.66 to 45.31 in prelims and 45.32 in finals.

Gianni Savino, 11, 50-meter butterfly, dropping from 42.44 to 41.15 in prelims and 41.08 in finals.

Gregory Trimble, 10, 100-meter backstroke, dropping from 1:45.89 to 1:41.60 in prelims and 1:39.13 in finals.

Bennett Brown, 8, 100-meter backstroke, improved his prelim time of 1:51.88 to 1:48.31 in finals.

Sebastian Vargas, 13, 100-meter backstroke, dropping from 1:16.11 to 1:14.84 in finals.

Coral Springs Swim Club/SOFLO White and Blue coach Matt Jordan praised his swimmers’ racing.

“Our swimmers have achieved ten JO cuts (as of Saturday prelims),” Jordan said. “We are racing with confidence and swimming well both in preliminaries and finals not to mention the kids are having a great time.”

Mullins Park head coach Jessica Nugent was pleased with her swimmers races and improvement.

Bennett Brown and Meredith McDade both made their “B” cut times. Brown, 8, of Coral Springs Swim Club earned the top seed in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:51.88. CSSC teammate McDade, 7, also made her time in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:59.94.

Pembroke Pines police officer Jennifer Martin finished second at the Marriott Summer Masters Nationals Saturday at CenturyLink Center in Omaha.

Martin, who trains at South Florida Aquatic Club, swam third leg on Swim Fort Lauderdale’s second-place mixed 200-meter freestyle relay that finished in 1:50.38 with teammates Bryan Tatterson, 48, Ann Thomas, 52, and Mark Nieuwenhuis, 46.

The relay got nipped by Nebraska Masters in 1:49.53.

Martin led off the fourth-place 200-meter medley relay with teammates Kelly Legaspi, 41, Katharine Wenzel, 29, and Lisa Childers, 33, that finished in 2:17.81

In the individual events, Martin was sixth in the 100-meter freestyle in 1:05.51, off her seed time of 1:02.99. Martin was eighth in the 50-meter backstroke in 36.38.

On the heels of his world and national age group masters record swim, GOLD’s Timothy Shead, 60, continued his successful national meet with another victory, this time in the 50-meter backstroke in 32.20, just off his seed time of 32.00.

GOLD teammate David McIntyre, 75, won the 50-meter backstroke in 41.10.

Kelly Legaspi, 41, of Swim Fort Lauderdale won the 200-meter breaststroke in 2:55.60. Teammate Stephanie Terrell, 24, won the 50-meter backstroke in 32.85.

Jamie Marks, 24, also of Swim Fort Lauderdale, won the 200-meter butterfly in 2:19.63.

Vicente Andrade, 24, of Swim Fort Lauderdale won the 50-meter backstroke in 28.11.

Swim Fort Lauderdale’s 72-99 women’s 200-meter medley relay of Stephanie Terrell, 24, Jamie Marks, 24, Li Tao, 25, and Siobhan Murphy, 26, won in 2:09.03.

The meet ends on Sunday.
