Marc Rojas continued his Herculean efforts Wednesday at the Southern Zone Senior Long Course Championships at Plantation Aquatic Complex.

Rojas, 19, one of the meet’s workhorses, won the 200-meter freestyle in 1:57.69, faster than his prelim time of 2:00.02.

The top-seed in the 200-meter freestyle has now won three events over two days.

Rojas, a sophomore at Indian River State College, has two events remaining. He is seeded second in the 200-meter individual medley and third in the 100-meter breaststroke.

Rojas also anchored the runner-up 800-meter freestyle relay in 8:08.78 and picked up 30 points.

SOFLO’s girls 800-meter freestyle relay of Marcella Marinheiro, Maria Lopez, Kelley Heron and Melissa Marinheiro won in 8:42.24 and picked up another 40 points.

Marcella Marinheiro was also one of the team’s workhorses, swimming in four of the day’s five events.

Marinheiro, 18, headed to Florida Gulf Coast in two weeks, finished second in the 50-meter backstroke in 31.79, eighth in the 200-meter freestyle in 2:12.31, fifth in the 50-meter butterfly in 29.61 and had enough in the tank to anchor the winning relay.

SOFLO picked up 90 points alone with its relay finishes and moved from eighth place to fourth with 380 points among a field of 32 teams.

Thirty-six attached teams and 381 swimmers are competing in the weeklong meet.

In addition to SOFLO other Florida Gold Coast teams Pine Crest Swimming, FLA, Flying Fish, Heritage Aquatics, North Miami Swim Team, Performance Aquatics, Titan Aquatics and Plantation Swim Team.

400-meter individual medley: 1. Kaitlyn Swinney, FCST 5:01.26; SOFLO: 27. Kylie Herman 5:28.58, best time, 30. Delanie Perez 5:33.12, best time.

50-meter butterfly: 1. Harper Bruens, FLA 28.78; SOFLO: 5. Marcella Marinheiro 29.61, best time, 7. Maria Lopez 30.23, 12. Amber Hunter 30.23, 34. Bianca Muniz 33.45, best time, 39. Bianca Monti 34.21.
