SOFLO Hosts Busy Weekend In Pembroke Pines

Academic Village Pool will be a beehive of activity over the next three days.

Host South Florida Aquatic Club will host two meets.

On Friday, the 8&Under Broward County Holiday Classic will be held.

SOFLO will have 17 swimmers race, nine girls and eight boys. Among SOFLO’s top seeds are Erika Pelaez, 7, Randy Smith, 8, and Samuel Bullen, 8.

In addition to SOFLO, several other Florida Gold Coast teams will compete including Miami-Dade, Swim Fort Lauderdale and Plantation Swim Team.

Age group competition will be in the 6-and-under and 7-8 age brackets. The meet begins at 4:30 p.m. after 4 p.m. warm-up.

Then on Saturday and Sunday, SOFLO will host the Broward County Sprint Championships. Two sessions are scheduled each day.

SOFLO has 109 swimmers entered, 57 men and 52 women.

Endi Babi, 25, Jordan Colon, 16, Juan Lucas, 14, Ervin Marin, 14, and CJ Kopecki, 14, lead the men’s contingent and Maria Lopez, 17, Kylie Herman, 16, and sisters Kathleen, 13, and Molly Golding, 10, and Vanessa Mesa, 11, lead the girls’ contingent.

SOFLO dominates the event top seeds and has swimmers seeded first in every event but four.
