SOFLO’s Julien Pinon Wins First National Age Group Title

Julian Pinon won his first national age group title for France on Thursday at the French Long Course National Championships in Chartres, France.

The South Florida Aquatic Club swimmer and American Heritage High School sophomore won the 200-meter freestyle 15-16 age group national title in 1:54.08. Remi Meresse of Dauphins Toulouse OEC was second in 1:54.54.

Pinon, 15, was representing his French club team Canet 66 Natation.

With the win, Pinon qualified for the French team for the XXX Mediterranean Swimming Cup COMEN Competition at the newly-built Wingate Institute Olympic Swimming Pool in Netanya, Israel on June 28-29.

“Finally,” Pinon wrote on his Facebook. “I am so happy.”
