November 24, 2014—South Florida Aquatic Club is still celebrating its outstanding weekend at the 24th annual Speedo Winter Championships at Plantation Aquatic Complex.

Not only did the defending champions win the combined and women’s team titles for the second year in a row, but SOFLO had 100 percent performance in lifetime-best times in every age group.

Every SOFLO swimmer swam at least one best time and three turned in their first-ever lifetime-bests in their events at the highly-competitive meet that featured more than 1,300 swimmers and 75 teams.

“I think that speaks volumes,” SOFLO coach Chris Anderson said.

SOFLO was led by six high point winners: Joseph Lee, 11, and Michael Arias, 11, tied with 69 points; Vanessa Mesa, 12, with 66 points; Rafael Rodriguez, 12, with 77 points; Kathleen Golding, 14, with 71 points; and Melissa Marinheiro, 17, with 62 points.

It was the most high point winners SOFLO has had in a major meet in team history.

Marinheiro, Jessica Rodriguez, Kathleen Golding and Timothy Wynter did not shave for the meet since they are competing in the USA Swimming Speedo Winter Junior National Championships , Dec. 11-13 in Federal Way, Wash.
