SOFLO Split Squads Compete At Two FGC Weekend Meets

June 25, 2015—South Florida Aquatic Club, the largest team in the Florida Gold Coast, will have more than 100 swimmers competing at two Florida Gold Coast meets this weekend.

The split squads will compete at the Swim Fort Lauderdale Sharks International Invitational Classic at Nova Southeastern Aquatic Center and FLA International Invitational at Plantation Aquatic Complex.

Both timed final meets begin Friday.

At the SFTL Sharks International Invitational Classic, SOFLO will be led by Bermuda national champion Lisa Blackburn, 43, tuning up for next month’s Pan American Games in Canada; Florida State-bound Jordan Colon, 18; Jonathan Farah, 17; Kathleen Golding 14; Molly Golding, 12; CJ Kopecki, 15; Florida Gulf Coast’s Marcella Marinheiro, 20; Florida State’s Marc Rojas, 21; Erika Pelaez, 8; Jessica Rodriguez, 16; and Julien Pinon, 16.

Alana Acevedo, 13; Katherine DeBarros, 14; Wyatt Jennessee, 15; Natasha Testa, 16; Raquel Lugo, 15; and Simon Ortiz, 17 will head the SOFLO contingent at the FLA International Invitational in Plantation.

Two other meets are scheduled for this weekend in Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties.

Jupiter is hosting the Dragons Summer Short Course Developmental Meet at North County Aquatic Complex on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Metro Aquatic Club of Miami is hosting the FGC Short Course Developmental Invitational at Tamiami Aquatic Center, also on Saturday, at 9 a.m.

When: Friday-Monday

Where: Plantation Aquatic Complex, 9151 NW Second Street.

Schedule: Friday, Session 1, 2 p.m.; Session 2, 5:30 p.m.; Saturday, Session 3, 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.; Sunday, Session 4, 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.; Monday, Session 5, 9 a.m. Timed Finals.
