August 3, 2015—South Florida Aquatic Club is sending some of its strongest swimmers to the USA Swimming Southern Zone Senior and Age Group Long Course Championships meets in Greenville, S.C. and Tupelo, Miss.

Six boys and one girl will represent SOFLO on the Florida Gold Coast team at the Southern Zone Senior meet hosted by Westside Park and Aquatic Complex in Greenville.

They are Carly Swanson, 17, Maximilian Asnis, 15, Samuel Asnis, 16, Juan Diaz, 15, Esteban Diaz-Velasco, 16, Jonathan Farah and Leonardo Mateus, 13.

The timed distance events get underway on Tuesday at 5 p.m. The remainder of the week prelims are 9 a.m. and finals 5:30 p.m.

Zone championships feature top regional swimmers at senior and age group levels who meet qualifying standards within four designated Zones: Eastern (Richmond, Va.), Central (Topeka, Kan.), Southern (Tupelo, Miss.) and Western (Maui, Hawaii).

The age group meet gets under way Tuesday at the Tupelo (Miss.) Aquatic Center. The five-day meet, hosted by Shockwave Aquatics Swim Team, ends on Sunday.

The competition begins Tuesday with timed finals at 1 p.m. Prelims and finals will be held Wednesday through Saturday at 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. respectively.

Rafael Rodriguez, 13, and Jie Hoon Lee, 12, leads SOFLO’s age group contingent.

Medals will be awarded to first through eighth places in the individual events and one through three in relays.
