January 14, 2016—A small, but talented contingent from South Florida Aquatic Club will compete Saturday in the Florida Gold Coast Gulliver Senior Long Course Invitational.

Eleven swimmers, including pros, national team members and age groupers, will get in some racing against several top swimmers from around the state.

SOFLO’s six women include Kelley Heron, 16, Catalina Mendieta, 26, Ksen Golovkina, 26, Abby Oyetunji, 16, Jessica Rodriguez, 17, and Alina Schulhofer, 20.

SOFLO’s five-man contingent features Ryan Capote, 17, Juan Diaz, 16, CJ Kopecki, 16, Ervin Marin, 16, and Alejandro Zambrano, 21.

In the opening session on Saturday, Heron is seeded first in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:06.39 followed by teammate Mendieta, 26, in 1:06.97. Heron is competing in five events, the most of any SOFLO swimmers.

Golovkina, 26, is seeded third in the 50-meter freestyle in 26.89.

In the second session on Saturday, Golovkina is seeded first in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:11.31 ahead of Rodriguez, 17, in 1:13.05.

Schulhofer, 20, is seeded second in the 200-meter freestyle in 2:05.73. Mendieta is seeded fourth in the 100-meter butterfly in 1:04.14.

Among top teams competing are host Gulliver, Azura and Sarasota. The results will be posted on Meet Mobile.
