SOFLO Heads To Islamorada For FGC Area 3 Championships

July 7, 2016—South Florida Aquatic Club heads the field for the Florida Gold Coast Area 3 Developmental Championships at the Ron Levy Aquatic Center in Islamorada.

The three-day meet begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. with the timed distance events.

SOFLO swimmers entered are: Alana Acevedo, 14; Ryan Alfonso, 13; Kaitlyn Barrios, 10; Sophia Bedoya, 14; Megan Biggs, 16; Shayna Blitz, 11; current TYR Swimmer of the Month Mariann Catalasan, 10; Alexis Christensen, 10; Luna Delgado, 10; Celeste Estrada, 10; Valeria Garcia, 13; Roberto Garrido, 14; Kalin Hubbard, 12; Maria Legaspi, 10; Rebekah Ling, 14; Raquel Lugo, 16; Anastasia Lutz, 9; Jason Moya, 7; Kevin Moya, 9; Abigail Natino, 9; Joseph-Blake Natino, 7; Judith-Alison Natino, 10; Michelle Ordonez, 13; Emmanuel Ortiz, 18; Genesis Ortiz, 14; Sabrina Osorio, 11; Sofia Osorio, 11; Giada Porven, 8; Lucas Porven, 10; Natalia Sibug, 10; Kailey Smith, 11; Owen Smith, 9; Samantha Solis, 11; Jiovanni Tapia, 13; Amy-Nicole Toro, 14; Michael Toro, 14; Kellie Wilcox, 15, and Aldo Zepeda, 11.

SOFLO has 38 swimmers competing in 182 individual events and 10 relay teams in eight relay events. SOFLO’s Hector Acevedo is meet referee.

Swimmers have one last chance meet to make time standards for the July 15-17 FGC Junior Olympics at Martin County/North Palm Beach and July 22-24 Senior Championships at Coral Springs. Others who already have their cuts will go after best times and fine tune.

Twenty-two teams are competing including AquaKids Sharks, Blue Marlins, Hialeah, Metro Aquatics, Gulliver Prep and host Florida Keys Swim Team.

Two other Area Championships are scheduled for this weekend. Boca Raton is hosting the Area 1 meet and Sunrise is hosting the Area 2 meet.

Where: Founders Park, Ron Levy Aquatic Center, 87000 Overseas Highway (US1), Islamorada

Schedule: Friday, Session 1, 5 p.m.; Saturday, Session 2, 8:30 a.m., Session 3, 5 p.m.; Sunday, Session 4, 8:30 a.m., Session 5, 4 p.m.
