June 2, 2017—Nearly 30 developmental swimmers from South Florida Aquatic Club will compete Saturday in the Florida Gold Coast Invite Sprint Meet at Miami-Dade North College Aquatic Center.

The one-day meet begins at 8:30 a.m. and will run until 1 p.m. It will be timed finals.

SOFLO’s 28 swimmers from the Meteorites and Dippers competing are: Madison Adkins, 10; Gabriella Arauz, 12; Sebastien Luc Bourjolly, 13; Sebastian Bozeman, 11; Kaitlyn Consuegra, 11; Alan Cortinas, 11; Erick Esser, 10; Karina Hernandez, 11; Ethan Hill, 9; Benjamin Kim, 9; Gabriella Lissa, 11; Brandon Lozano, 7; Alessio Mazzi, 10; Stefano Mazzi, 9; Matthew Mendieta, 12; Diego Nazario-Vazquez, 11; Mitchell Pecci, 14; Martin Petkov, 8; Juan-Esteban Ramirez, 11; Brandon Rios, 10; Maximiliano Salguero, 12; Abigail Scalzitti, 10; Annie Schulze, 10; Adrian Sowma, 8; Ahana Thakur, 12; Aryav Thakur, 8; Juan Vallmitjana, 8; and Elizabeth Volovich, 10.

SOFLO swimmers are entered in 119 individual events.

North Miami Swim Team and City of North Miami are hosting the one-day meet. Among other Florida Gold Coast teams competing are AquaKids Sharks, Blue Marlins, Flying Fish, Miami Swimming and North Miami Swim Team.

OPEN WATER SWIMMING

SOFLO will be well-represented on the Florida Gold Coast All-Star team competing in this weekend’s Southern Zone Open Water Championships in Lake Echo at Seven Lakes, N.C.

SOFLO’s swimmers are Rafael Rodriguez, Leonardo and Alejandro Mateus, Alana and Sarah Acevedo and Mallory Schleicher.

The remaining FGC Swimming Open Water zone team is:

GIRLS: 13-14, Madelyn Hebert, Lucia Miller, Sofia Avellaneda.

GIRLS: 15-16, Adrianna Barone, Adrianna Rodriguez.

BOYS: 13-14, Carson Neidert, Benjamin Carey, Ethan Roach.

BOYS: 15-16, Adrian Aguilar, Bryan Rivero.

BOYS: Open, Blake Manganiello, Diego Avellaneda, Michael Fernandez.

SOFLO age group coach Travis Lockie is a member of the coaching staff.

After a pre-race meeting on Friday, the Fun Open 1K will be held at the venue. The 2K and 5K events are Saturday beginning at 7:45 a.m. The 3K team pursuit races are Sunday at 9 a.m.

Age group divisions are 11-12, 13-14, 15-16 and Open. The event is hosted by the Sandhills Sandsharks.

NATIONAL SENIOR GAMES

The swimming portion of the National Senior Games are June 5-10 in Birmingham, Ala. A total of 870 athletes from Florida over the age of 50 will compete in 19 sports including swimming.

The 30th anniversary of the event will feature more

than 10,000 athletes. Swimming has 62 athletes from Florida competing, fourth largest turnout behind softball, pickleball and track and field.
