August 11, 2017—Headed into the fifth and final day of the Speedo Junior National Championships at Nassau County Aquatics Center in East Meadow, N.Y., South Florida Aquatic Club’s Kathleen Golding will compete in her final two events.

Golding will swim the 200-meter individual medley and 50-meter freestyle. She is seeded seventh in the 200-meter individual medley in 2:17.69 and 20th in the 50-meter freestyle in 26.24.

Golding turned in her best race of the meet so far on Friday in the 200-meter freestyle. She finished 12th in 2:02.28, dropping 0.10 off her morning time of 2:02.38. Her splits were 28.40, 31.02, 31.75 and 31.11. She was seeded 15th in the event.

Golding, 16, a junior at Cooper City High School and 2016 U.S. Olympic trials qualifier, qualified in six events.

South Florida Aquatic Club’s one-woman team is 34th with 21 points among more than 70 teams.

Friday night winners were:

Easop Lee, 17, of North Baltimore Aquatic Club won the 200-meter freestyle in 2:00.08.

Alexander Zettle, 17, of Lakeside Aquatic Club won the 200-meter freestyle in 1:49.13, the only swimmer to dip below 1:50.

Zoie Hartman, 16, of Crow Canyon won the 200-meter breaststroke in 2:28.09 to sweep the breaststroke junior national titles.

Daniel Roy, 17, of King Aquatic Club won the 200-meter breaststroke in a lifetime best and meet record 2:11.25.

Isabelle Stadden, 15, of FAST won the 100-meter backstroke in 1:01.23.

Carson Foster, 15, of the Mason Manta Rays won the 100-meter backstroke in 55.61 for his third gold medal of the meet. He also won the 200 backstroke and 200 butterfly.

Magnolia Aquatic Club (Lucie Nordmann, Monica Gumina, Kaitlynn Sims, Lillie Nordmann) won the women’s 4×200-meter freestyle relay in 8:10.64.

SwimMAC Carolina leads the combined team standings with 310 and look to be headed to clinching the title. Mason Manta Rays are second with 262. Mason Manta Rays lead the men’s team standings with 236 and Magnolia leads the women’s with 191 just ahead of SwimMac with 184.

The top Florida Gold Coast finishers were:

Mary Smutny, 16, AquaKids Sharks, 200-meter freestyle, 39th, 2:05.14; 100-meter backstroke, 80th, 1:07.70.

Alessandra Baldari, 17, Unattached, 200-meter freestyle, 43rd, 2:04.65, time drop.

Teo Darias, 17, Gulliver Swim Club, 200-meter breaststroke, 47th, 2:24.59.

Marcelo Lauzurique, 18, Gulliver Swim Club, 200-meter breaststroke, 57th, 2:26.06.

Tyler Zuyus, 17, Pompano Beach Piranhas, 200-meter freestyle, 77th, 1:57.12.

The five-day meet runs through Saturday. Prelims are 9 a.m. and finals 6 p.m. All sessions will be live streamed at usaswimming.org.
