SOFLO’s DiSalvo Wins Big At Key West Pentathlon

KEY WEST, September 2, 2017—Fiorella DiSalvo of South Florida Aquatic Club came up big Saturday at the FGC Key West Pentathlon at Florida Keys Community College.

DiSalvo, 9, swept all five events with five lifetime-bests and won the high point award for 9-year-olds with 100 points, an 18-point margin ahead of runner-up Taylor Gibson, 9, of Bone Island Swim Club (82).

DiSalvo won the:

50-yard backstroke 36.99, best time, 39.90 previous best.

50-yard freestyle 32.86, best time, 33.60 previous best.

50-yard butterfly 38.52, best time, 39.01 previous best.

50-yard breaststroke 41.43, best time, 43.77 previous best.

100-yard individual medley 1:19.06, best time, 1:20.67, previous best.

DiSalvo was the only SOFLO swimmer competing in the meet that featured teams from the Florida Gold Coast South Africa and 8-and-under, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-and-over age groups.

Bone Island Swim Club hosted the event.
