TCA’s Blair Stoneburg Triple Winner On Day Two Of Florida Virtual Championship At Stuart

STUART, December 5, 2020–Blair Stoneburg of Treasure Coast Aquatics dominated second day action of the Florida Virtual Championship Saturday at Sailfish Splash Waterpark.

Stoneburg, 16, won the 50-yard butterfly in 24.98, 50-yard freestyle in 23.13 and 500-yard freestyle in 4:38.83. All three were best times. She has the 100 and 1,650-yard freestyles left to swim on the third and final day Sunday.

Jupiter’s Heidi Smithwick, 17, won the 50-yard breaststroke in a best time 29.49.

St. Andrew’s Michael Fernandez, 17, was a double winner in the 50-yard breaststroke in 26.47 and 50-yard freestyle in 20.88.

Caleb Petranchuk, 18, of Jupiter Dragons won the 50-yard butterfly in a best time 22.86.

Philip Moldovanu, 17, of Wahoos of Wellington won the 500-yard freestyle in a best time 4:28.56.

The meet, also serving as USA Swimming’s 18-and-under Winter Championships, is one of four meets being held around the state. The others are the Dec. 4-6 meet hosted by South Florida Aquatic Club at Academic Village Pool; Dec. 11-13 hosted by Sarasota Sharks Swim Team and Dec. 11-13 hosted by Clearwater Aquatic Team.

Each host site will have separate results for the short course yard events posted on Meet Mobile. At the conclusion of all four meets, the results will be combined.

Fifteen teams are competing in the three-day meet, hosted by North Palm Beach Swim Club. The meet concludes Sunday with prelims at 9 a.m., distance events at 2:45 p.m. and finals at 5 p.m.

50-yard breaststroke: 1. Heidi Smithwick, Jupiter Dragons 29.49, 2. Emma Grimm, PSA 30.30, 3. Avery Sargeant, LA 30.81.

50-yard butterfly: 1. Blair Stoneburg, TCA 24.98, 2. Aspen Gersper, SAS 25.44, 3. Mary Agnes Smith, PSA 25.93.

200-yard individual medley: 1. Sara Stotler, PSA 2:01.19, 2. Haley Harris, LA 2:03.33, 3. Kaitlyn Holmes, Unattached 2:03.85.

50-yard freestyle: 1. Blair Stoneburg, TCA 23.13, 2. Heidi Smithwick, Jupiter 23.33, 3. Aspen Gersper, SAS 23.53.

500-yard freestyle: 1. Blair Stoneburg, TCA 4:38.83, 2. Brooke Arnold, LA 4:53.43, 3. Erin Miller, SAS 4:56.08.

200-yard medley relay: 1. Planet Swim Aquatics A 1:43.63 (Annie Wohlgemuth, Sara Stotler, Maryn McDade, Emma Grimm), 2. St. Andrew’s 1:46.65, 3. Planet Swim Aquatics B 1:47.07.

100-yard backstroke: 1. Jake Sciscente, RATS 50.08, 2. Mason Campbell, LA 50.96, 3. Raymond Prosinski, LA 51.64.

50-yard breaststroke: 1. Michael Fernandez, SAS 26.47, 2. Rich Nguyen, LA 26.87, 3. Dylan Smiley, MCDA 27.00.

50-yard butterfly: 1. Caleb Petranchuk, Jupiter Dragons 22.86, 2. Dominic Miller, LA 22.95, 3. Varis Monroe, NPB 223.05.

200-yard individual medley: 1. Josh Zuchowski, FAST 1:46.66, 2. Mitchell Ledford, TCSC 1:51.43, 3. Raymond Prosinski, LA 1:52.32.

50-yard freestyle: 1. Michael Fernandez, SAS 20.88, 2. Dominic Miller, LA 20.91, 3. Varis Monroe, NPB 21.01.
