Florida State cancelled its’ Thursday home swimming and diving meet against Texas A&M because of the recent spike in COVID-19.

“We’re disappointed Texas A&M won’t be traveling,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “It would have been a great match-up, but traveling safely is so tough right now. Hopefully, we can schedule a dual next year.”

The No. 18-ranked Seminoles will travel to Baton Rouge, La., to face LSU on Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. (ET).

Also cancelled due to COVID-related reasons was the Jan. 12-15 TYR Pro Swim Series event in Knoxville, Tenn.

It was USA Swimming’s decision to cancel its first major meet of 2022. The Colorado-based national governing body said Monday it wanted to prioritize the health and safety of its athletes, staff and event volunteers.
