Christie Ann Lumsden, Jianna Amores Lead SOFLO In Session Three Of TYR SOFLO Open

PEMBROKE PINES, January 22, 2023—South Florida Aquatic Club swimmers had another big day of swimming at the TYR SOFLO Open Saturday at Academic Village Pool.

Jianna Amores and Christie Ann Lumsden came up big for SOFLO.

Amores, 12, won four events: 100-yard backstroke, in a best time 1:07.17, with a time drop of 0.09; 100-yard butterfly, 1:02.60; 50-yard freestyle, best time 26.29 with an 0.81 time drop; and 500-yard freestyle in a best time 5:38.28, dropping an impressive 11.79.

Lumsden, 10, won the 100-yard backstroke in a best time 1:16.30, dropping 2.20; 50-yard breaststroke in 37.14; and 50-yard freestyle in 28.72.

Lumsden and Amores were also members of the winning SOFLO A 200-yard medley relay team along with teammates Sophie Szutkowski and Jemma Baldwin, winning in 2:06.26. SOFLO swept the top three places.

Other SOFLO winners were:
Luis Escobar, 200-yard breaststroke, 3:16.45.

Toma Petkov, 50-yard breaststroke, 40.92.

Noah Mejias, 100-yard butterfly, 1:03.81.

Rainier Leyva Riestra, 50-yard freestyle, best time 27.01, time drop 0.89.

Michael Barber, 500-yard freestyle, best time 6:34.10, time drop 1.96

SOFLO’s A boys 200-yard medley relay of Rainier Leyva Riestra, Julian Sibug, Noah Mejias and Eric Ferrer won in 2:07.61. SOFLO swept the top three places.

In addition to host SOFLO, among Florida Gold Coast swim teams competing are SwimFast, Metro Aquatics, Miami Swimming, Sunrise Swimming, Cooper City Cyclones, Hialeah, Speed World Swimming, TS Aquatics, Mar JCC Swim Team, College of Florida Keys and Boca Raton.
