Isabella Pittinger and Keegan Boisson-Yates led South Florida Aquatic Club Friday on Day Two of the Michael Lohberg Invitational at Coral Springs Aquatic Complex.

Pittinger, 12, won the 100-meter backstroke in 1:14.11, bettering her previous best time of 1:14.63.

Pittinger also swam a best time in the 50-meter freestyle in 30.71, improving her previous best time of 30.78 during morning prelims. She was third in finals in 30.81.

After swimming his best time in the 50-meter freestyle during morning prelims in 24.99, Boisson-Yates, 17, came back to win the sprint event in 25.23 ahead of teammate Luke Torres, 18, second in 25.47.

Boisson-Yates’ previous best 50-meter freestyle time was 25.21.

Other individual SOFLO champions were:

Venezuela’s three-time Olympian Arlene Semeco, 28, won the 50-meter freestyle in 26.38 after swimming 26.09 in prelims.

Jillian Alexander, 15, won the 200-meter breaststroke in 2:55.54, after going 3:00.47 prelims.

Steph Campo, 14, won the 100-meter backstroke in 1:12.50 after 1:14.77 in prelims.

Brandon Goldman, 17, was a double winner capturing the 200-meter individual medley in 2:13.97 after 2:16.03 in prelims and 100-meter backstroke in 1:00.34 after 1:02.54 in prelims.

Brian Arnaud, 18, won the 200-meter breaststroke in 2:42.78 after 2:39.34 in prelims.

In the 15-and-over 200-meter individual medley final, Lindsey Sauer, 15, finished second in a best time of 2:40.37.

Connor Marks, 10, swam back-to-back times in the 100-meter backstroke and finished third. He swam 1:27.71 in prelims and 1:26.90 in finals dropping from his previous best of 1:32.09. He also swam a best time 35.20 in the 50-meter freestyle to finish tenth. His previous best was 35.68.

In morning prelims SOFLO swam several career-best times.

In the girls 13-14 200-meter individual medley, Rebecca Wilkerson went a best time of 2:48.76 bettering her previous best of 2:50.49.

In the 13-14 200-meter individual medley, Veronica Postolski, 14, dropped from 2:51.55 to 2:50.18; in the 50-meter freestyle from 30.43 to 30.15 and again in finals in 29.94 to finish third; and in the 100-meter backstroke dropped from 1:18.59 to 1:17.25.

In the girls 13-14 50-meter freestyle, Daniela Ginzburg dropped time from 31.88 to 31.70; Adrianna Cuevas, 14, dropped from 32.63 to 32.27; and Kristin Sauer, 13, dropped from 33.62 to 33.10.

In the girls 13-14 100-meter backstroke, Adrianna Cuevas, 14, dropped from 1:20.77 to 1:19.24.

In the girls’ 11-12 200-meter individual medley, Catharine Cooper, 12, lowered her best time from 2:50.37 to 2:48.05 and lowered it again in finals in 2:45.33 to finish second.

In the 50-meter freestyle, Hannah Virgin, 11, lowered her time from 32.15 to 31.78.

In the 50-meter freestyle, Megan Schimansky, 12, dropped from 32.19 to 31.96; in the 100-meter backstroke dropped from 1:19.98 to 1:14.64 and earned the No. 1 seed for finals where she finished second in 1:14.99.

In the 50-meter freestyle, Lauren Noyola, 11, dropped from 35.03 to 34.76. Also in the 50-meter freestyle, Daniela Gomez, 12, dropped from 36.24 to 34.96; and in the 100-meter backstroke dropped from 1:28.88 to 1:28.15.

In the girls’ 10-and-under 200-meter individual medley, Delaney Biro, 10, lowered her best time from 3:04.95 to 3:03.01; 50-meter freestyle from 33.03 to 32.53 and again in the final in 33.38 to finish sixth; and 100-meter backstroke dropped from 1:28.12 to 1:27.25.

Also in the 200 IM, Gabby Beltrano, 10, bettered her time from 3:19.80 to 3:17.77; 50-meter freestyle from 38.87 to 36.88; and 100-meter backstroke from 1:26.83 to 1:25.73.

Also in the 200 IM, Sarah Schimansky, 9, dropped from 3:33.12 to 3:30.05 and 50-meter freestyle from 37.41 to 36.27. Lydia Szakacs, 10, dropped from 3:36.86 to 3:32.08 in the 200 IM and 50-meter freestyle from 39.25 to 38.75.

In the girls’ 15-and-over, 50-meter freestyle, Bar Bogoslavsky, 16, lowered her time from 32.51 to 32.28.

In the girls’ 15-and-over 50-meter butterfly, Emily Greenwood, 17, lowered her time from 36.30 to 34.50; Lindsey Sauer, 15, lowered her best time twice in prelims in 34.95 and finals in 33.11 to finish third.

In the girls’ 13-14 50-meter butterfly, Charlene Forti, 13, lowered her time from 36.18 to 35.67.

In the boys’ 15-and-over 50-meter freestyle Justin Torres, 16, lowered his time from 31.10 to 29.18; Dylan Allen, 15, dropped from 29.87 to 29.31; and Jacob Brookins, 15, dropped from 31.17 to 30.02.

In the boys’ 13-14 50-meter freestyle, Collin Burt, 13, lowered his best time from 31.30 to 30.80; and in the 50-meter butterfly from 34.65 to 34.35. 

In the boys 15-and-over, 200-meter individual medley, Bryce Pierce, 15, lowered his time from 2:33.30 to 2:31.91.

In the boys 15-and-over, 50-meter butterfly, Kyle Desrosiers, 16, lowered his time from 32.93 to 30.38; Brendan Teeters, 15, lowered his time from 32.95 to 30.72; Dylan Allen, 15, dropped from 32.55 to 31.48; and Di Sanguinetti, 21, dropped from 1:14.09 to 1:12.41. 

In the boys 13-14 200-meter individual medley, Sebastian Vargas, 13, lowered his best time from 2:41.19 to 2:38.78.

Tristan Celestin of South Florida Aquatic Club added three more lifetime best times to his swimming resume Saturday at the Florida Gold Coast Coral Springs Open Long Course Invitational at Coral Springs Aquatic Complex.

Celestin, 12, won the 50-meter butterfly in 30.15, bettering his previous best of 31.24. Celestin out-touched Alex Gazo, 12, of Flying Fish in 30.18.

Celestin bettered his best time winning the 100-meter freestyle in 1:01.86. His previous best was 1:04.04. He also won the 50-meter breaststroke in a personal-best 33.18, bettering his previous best of 33.55.

Celestin, the Nike Athlete of the Month, celebrates his 13th birthday on Sunday and will now age-up into the 13-14 age group.

Isabella Pittinger, 12, won the 100-meter backstroke in a lifetime-best 1:15.60, bettering her previous best of 1:18.08, out-touching Andrea Lopez of Team FLA at the wall. She was second in the 50-meter butterfly in another best time of 32.81, bettering her previous best of 36.47.

Sophia Bucaro, 12, won the 100-meter freestyle in a career-best 1:05.55, bettering her previous best time of 1:06.42.

Catharine Cooper was second in the 100-meter freestyle in 1:05.58, third in the 50-meter butterfly in a best time of 33.16 and fifth in the 200-meter individual medley in 2:52.47, a big time drop from her seed time of 3:20.88. In the IM race, Cooper came on strong in the breaststroke and took the lead in the freestyle to win her heat.

Keegan Boisson-Yates, 16, was second in the 100-meter freestyle in a career-best 55.30, bettering his previous best of 55.42.

Gabby Beltrano, 9, was second in the 100-meter backstroke in a lifetime-best 1:33.41, bettering her previous best time of 1:44.02.

Julien Pinon, at 13 the youngest in his heat, was second in the 200-meter individual medley in 2:28.55.

Brandon Goldman, 16, took home a pair of seconds in the 200-meter individual medley in 2:16.89 and 100-meter backstroke in 1:01.26.

Andres McKeon, 10, made his Florida Gold Coast Junior Olympic cut time in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:35.68.

Other individual SOFLO winners were:

Three-time Olympian Arlene Semeco, 28, of Venezuela won the 100-meter freestyle in 59.31.

Carter Carlson, 10, won the 200-meter individual medley in 3:14.39

Gianni Savino, 10, won the 50-meter breaststroke in a best time 47.33. His previous best was 50.74. He was also third in the 200-meter individual medley in 3:31.58.

Camana Bay Aquatic Club of the Cayman Islands, the only international team in the field, took time out from training at SOFLO’s Academic Village Pool in Pembroke Pines, to compete against some of the Florida Gold Coast’s top teams.

The two-day meet concludes on Sunday.

SOFLO’s Isabella Pittinger Has Big Day At Comets Florida Gold Coast Open Invitational

Isabella Pittinger won four events and posted three lifetime best times Saturday at the Florida Gold Coast Open Invitational at Academic Village Pool in Pembroke Pines.

Pittinger, 12, won the 11-12 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.74, bettering her previous best of 1:06.75; 100-yard butterfly in 1:07.96, bettering her previous best of 1:11.84 and 50-yard freestyle in 27.05, lowering her previous best of 27.07.

Pittinger was also a member of the winning 12-and-under 200-yard medley relay in 2:04.94 with teammates Megan Schimansky, Kelley Heron and Catharine Cooper.

Tristan Celestin led the SOFLO boys with three wins, including a career-best time swim.

Celestin, 12, won the 11-12 50-yard breaststroke in 29.06; 50-yard freestyle in 24.23 and 100-yard butterfly in a best time of 1:03.28, lowering his previous best of 1:05.09.

Celestin was also a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay in 1:52.68 with teammates Juan Lucas, Carlos Rodriguez and Kevin Porto.

South Florida Aquatic Club opened up on a winning note Friday night at the Florida Gold Coast Central Area 2 Developmental Meet at Nova Southeastern University Aquatic Complex.

In the opening session, Isabella Pittinger, 11, won the girls 11-12 200-meter backstroke in 2:49.45, a FGC Junior Olympics qualifying time.

Megan Schimansky, 11, won the girls 11-12 400-meter freestyle in 5:39.46, bettering her previous best of 5:39.76.

Nicole Gautieri, 14, won the girls 13-14 50-meter freestyle in 30.51, a Florida Gold Coast JO time. It also bettered her previous best of 31.50.

Charlene Forti, 12, won the girls 11-12 100-meter breaststroke in 1:33.70, a Florida Gold Coast JO time and personal best. Her previous best was 1:42.34.

Joshua Hanks, 7, of the Coral Springs Swim Club won the boys 10-and-under 100-meter breaststroke in a career-best 1:59.28. His previous best was 2:07.07.

In one of the more exciting boys races, Nick McKenna, 15, of SwimFast nipped SOFLO’s Tomas Kloosterman, 15, in the 15-18 400-meter freestyle, 4:38.49-4:38.99.

The three-day meet continues on Saturday.

The future looks bright for South Florida Aquatic Club boys and girls swimmers after their performances at the three-day Florida Gold Coast Area 2 Developmental Meet at Academic Village Pool Sunday in Pembroke Pines.

On the third and final day, SOFLO swimmers swam to 24 Florida Gold Coast Junior Olympic qualifying times.

The boys, led by Rodrigo Rodriguez, totaled 13 FGJO times and girls, led by Audrey Mason, posted eleven FGJO times. Rodriguez and Mason each had three FGJO times.

Over three days, swimmers turned in sixty FGJO times (15 on Friday, 21 on Saturday and 24 on Sunday) and 217 career-best times.

“Our coaches had our swimmers very well-prepared, it was a great meet,” SOFLO CEO and Coach Chris Anderson said.

Mason, 13 won the 13-14 200-meter freestyle in 2:24.48; 50-meter freestyle in 31.23; and 200-meter backstroke in 2:50.46. All three times were career-bests.

Rodriguez, 12, was second in the 11-12 100-meter freestyle in 1:10.61; second in the 50-meter breaststroke in 45.06 and third in the 50-meter backstroke in 39.85, all career-best and FGJO times.

Other SOFLO girls posting FGJO cut times were:

Isabella Pittinger, 11, won the 11-12 100-meter freestyle in a career-best time of 1:12.33 bettering her previous best time of 1:29.58; and 50-meter backstroke in 36.24, bettering her previous best time of 46.16. Both were FGJO qualifying cuts.

Luisa Suzuki, 12, was second in the 11-12 100-meter freestyle in 1:14.30 and fourth in the 50-meter breaststroke in 44.85, a career-best time.

Natasha Testa, 12, was second in the 11-12 50-meter breaststroke in 43.53, bettering her previous best time of 46.27.

Lilli Calero, 12, was third in the 11-12 50-meter breaststroke in 44.09, bettering her previous best of 45.50.

Delanie Perez, 10, won the 12-and-under 400-meter individual medley in 6:16.37 in her event debut.

Delaney Biro, 9, was third in the 10-and-under 100-meter freestyle in 1:22.05 bettering her previous best time of 1:24.03.

Amanda Kopas, 8, was fourth in the 10-and-under 100-meter freestyle in a career-best 1:22.85. Her previous best was 1:26.65.

Other SOFLO boys turning in FGJO qualifying times were:

William Perry III, 14, won the 13-14 200-meter freestyle in a career-best 2:21.40. His previous best was 2:29.39.

Sebastian Vargas, 12, was third in the 11-12 100-meter freestyle in a personal-best 1:12.76, bettering his previous best of 1:18.20.

Andres Lares, 11, was fourth in the 11-12 100-meter freestyle in 1:14.13, a career-best time. His previous best was 1:20.71.

Kevin Porto, 11, won the 12-and-under 200-meter backstroke in 2:40.55.

Gus Cohn, 10, was second in the 10-and-under 50-meter backstroke in a career-best 43.82. His previous best was 46.29.

In the boys’ 12-and-under 400-meter individual medley, it was a SOFLO sweep with four FGJO times. Julien Pinon, 12, won in 5:20.82 followed by Juan Lucas, 12, 5:44.60; Cristian Rossi, 12, 5:56.49; and Samuel Quintero, 10, 5:56.60.
