By Sharon Robb
BOCA RATON, June 20, 2021–Mother Nature obviously did not get the memo about the three-day Boca Raton Swim Team Phoenix Invite at Boca Raton High School Aquatic Center.

Unfortunately, inclement weather cancelled Sunday night’s finals and top qualifying swimmers were unable to get two races in.

However, meet organizers were able to get the 12-and-under and 13-and-over prelims which will be considered timed finals since finals will not be made up.

South Florida Aquatic Club swimmers had another good day dominating the prelims in both age group divisions. SOFLO girls won every event except for four. SOFLO boys won all but four events.

Among SOFLO top morning qualifiers, now event winners were:

Jemma Baldwin, 100-meter freestyle, 1:13.05; 100-meter butterfly, 1:24.46; 50-meter backstroke, 39.68, time drop 1.66.

Ricardo Roche, 200-meter individual medley, 2:15.34, time drop 7.03.

SOFLO has 95 swimmers (51 boys and 44 girls) competing in 519 individual events.

In addition to SOFLO and host Boca Raton Swim Team, four other Florida Gold Coast teams are competing including Florida Keys Swim Club, Tsunamis Swim Team, Swim Fort Lauderdale and PAQ. The meet was capped at 350.

The meet continues on Monday. Weather permitting, the schedule is:

Monday, Session Seven, 13-14, 15-and-over, 8-10:05 a.m.
