PEMBROKE PINES, June 15, 2024—South Florida Aquatic Club girls dominated the opening final session of the SoFlo TYR Last Chance Summer Invite Friday night at Academic Village Pool.
Jemma Baldwin and Christie Ann Lumsden were double winners. Laila Harran and Ana Villamil were individual winners.
Baldwin won the 13-14 100-meter backstroke in a best time 1:11.14 with a time drop of 2.69 seconds. She also won the 100-meter freestyle in 1:00.93.
Lumsden won the 11-12 100-meter freestyle in a best time 1:04.02, dropping 3.18 seconds. She also won the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:21.73, also a best time dropping 2.14.
Harran won the 13-14 200-meter individual medley in a best time 2:30.47 with a 9.74 drop.
Villamil won the 15-and-over 100-meter backstroke in 1:10.46.
Varvara Dmitrova had a nice 6.06 drop in the 100-meter freestyle in 1:10.71. Molly Barber had a 26.79 drop in the 100 meter breaststroke in a best time 1:57.68.
Santiago Zuluaga was the lone SOFLO boys winner in the 10-and-under 100-meter backstroke in a best time 1:27.94, dropping 6.25 seconds.
Niccolo Miccolis had a 6.35 drop in the 11-12 50-meter butterfly in 34.45. Mikhail Ross had a 7.87 drop in the 100-meter breaststroke in 2:03.81.
The three-day meet continues Saturday with prelims at 8 a.m. for 13-and-older followed by prelims for 12-and-unders at 11:30 p.m. Championship finals are 7 p.m. On Sunday, timed finals begin 7:30 a.m. with the 1500 freestyle and final session at 10:30 a.m.
Eleven teams are entered including Blue Marlins of Hialeah Gardens, Eagle Aquatics, Florida Atlantic Aquatics, Hialeah Swim Club, Miami Country Day Aquatics, Miami Swimming, Olympus Swim Club, Speed World Swimming, SwimFast and Westminster Academy Swim Club.
