SOFLO Swimmers, Coaches End On Good Note On Final Day Of SoFlo TYR Last Chance Summer Invite

PEMBROKE PINES, June 17, 2024—South Florida Aquatic Club swimmers dominated the third and final session of the SoFlo TYR Last Chance Summer Invite Sunday at Academic Village Pool.

SOFLO girls and boys won the majority of the sprint events with best times.

Laila Harran and Carley Kaplan were double winners.

Harran, 14, won the 50-meter butterfly in 30.58 and 50-meter backstroke in 32.91. She finished with 50 points.

Kaplan, 15, won the 50-meter backstroke in 32.63 and 50-meter breaststroke in 37.89. She scored 32 points.

Individual winners were:
Varvara Dmitrova, 12, 1500-meter freestyle, 20:14.38. She had 46 points.


University of Houston commit Izzy Wilson, 17, 1500-meter freestyle, 18:29.37. She had 32 points.

Lydia Smutny, 15, 50-meter butterfly, 31.19. She had 16 points.


Mackenzie McPherson, 14, 50-meter breaststroke, 41.72. She had 33 points.


Victoria Colmenares, 10, 200-meter breaststroke, 3:32.94. She had 26 points.


Christie Ann Lumsden, 12, 200-meter breaststroke, 2:57.44. She finished with 59 points.

Jonathan Li, 13, 1500-meter freestyle, 19:23.37. He had 20 points.


Cuban Olympic hopeful Luciano Gonzalez, 30, 50-meter butterfly, 25.15. He had 9 points in his final tuneup for the Spanish trials.


Maximiliano Torres, 10, 200-meter breaststroke 3:32.12. He had 43 points.

Eleven teams competed. They were Blue Marlins of Hialeah Gardens, Eagle Aquatics, Florida Atlantic Aquatics, Hialeah Swim Club, Miami Country Day Aquatics, Miami Swimming, Olympus Swim Club, Speed World Swimming, SwimFast and Westminster Academy Swim Club.
