SOFLO’s Lismar Lyon Swims Best Time On Day Two Of Speedo Southern Zone South Sectional Championships

OCALA, May 25, 2024—SOFLO Olympic hopeful Lismar Lyon posted a best time Friday at the Speedo Southern Zone South Sectional Championships at Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training Center.

The 23-year-old Venezuelan finished 12th in the 100-meter freestyle in a best time 57.46, dropping 1.77 off her previous best of 59.23. Seeded 36th, she swam 58.31 in prelims to qualify 16th. She has totaled 21 points. She swims the 100-meter butterfly on Saturday.

SOFLO finished sixth in the women’s 800-meter freestyle relay in 8:59.81 with Carley Kaplan, Gabriella DeLuna, Laila Harran and Lydia Smutny.

Kaplan also went a best time in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:07.96, dropping 0.85.

SOFLO was seventh in the men’s 800-meter freestyle relay in 8:14.99 with Nicolai Ross, Manny Melendez, Aldo Zepeda and Austin Nelson.

SOFLO has 15 swimmers competing including four pros including Lyon.

After two days of action, defending champion Sarasota Sharks leads the combined team totals with 1,335 points and has already clinched the title. They also clinched the women’s title with 1,138.5 points. University of Minnesota leads the men’s team standings with 464.5 points.

SOFLO women are ninth with 133 points and SOFLO is 12th with 244 among a field of more than 50 teams.
