WEST PALM BEACH, June 27, 2024–South Florida Aquatic Club swimmers will finish up the month with the Lightning Last Chance BC Firecracker Invitational Saturday at Lake Lytal Pool.
The meet, which begins 8:30 a.m., opens with the mixed 8-and-under 25 freestyle and finishes up with the mixed 9-and-over 200 freestyle. Warm-up is 7:30 a.m.
Fourteen Florida Gold Coast teams will compete. They are Boca Raton Swim Team, Bravo Swim Team, Flood Aquatics, Hammerhead Aquatics, Jupiter Dragons, Lake Lytal Lightning, PAQ, Pine Crest Swim Team, St. Andrew’s Aquatics, Sunrise Swimming, SwimFast, Tsunami Swim Team and Wahoos of Wellington Swim Team.
SOFLO will have eighteen swimmers competing for last chance cuts for upcoming meets in July. They are Isabella Abohasen, 16; John Abohasen, 14; Juan Aguinaga Vela, 14; Matthew Garcia, 16; Marlena Groves, 14; Josiah King, 10; Gel’lesa Lewis, 17; Sofia Martinez, 13; Dylan McVeigh, 14; Daniel Medina, 14; Gabriella Ordonez, 13; Natalia Perez, 15; Jaxson Puntervold, 13; Antonio Rico, 13; Samuel Rico, 13; Gabrielle Sagado, 16; Cesar Salones, 17; and Adrian Sowma, 15.
SOFLO’s Marlena Groves is top seed in the 13-14 200-yard IM in 2:45.98, 100-yard freestyle in 1:05.85 and 100 IM in 1:18.34. Samuel Rico is top seed in 13-14 200 IM in 2:38.03 and 100 breaststroke in 1:25.32. Other top seeds are: Gabriella Ordonez in the 13-14 100 backstroke in 1:16.78, 100 butterfly in 1:16.43 and 200 freestyle in 2:27.93; Sofia Martinez in the 13-14 100 breaststroke and Josiah King in the 9-10 100 butterfly in 1:52.40.
