SAN ANTONIO, Tex., April 12, 2024—It was a big day of racing on the second day of competition at the 2024 TYR Pro Swim Series Thursday at Northside Swim Center.

Katie Ledecky, Leon Marchand, Caeleb Dressel and Regan Smith all won their events in front of a good crowd and national television audience.

Ledecky, who trains with the Gator Swim Club, won the 400-meter freestyle in a season-best time of 4:01.41, her first sub-4:02 of the season and third fastest time in the world this season.

Marchand continued his winning ways in the 200-meter butterfly in 1:54.97. He moved from fifth to first and was followed by Tempe/Bob Bowman training mates Luca Urlando (1:55.63) and Chase Kalisz (1:55.97).

Dressel, competing for the first time since the birth of his first child, son August Wilder, won an exciting 100-meter freestyle race in a season-best 48.40, swimming in Lane 8. Ryan Held was second in 48.48 and Matt King was third in 48.62. All top eight finishers were in the 48s.

Horrego, 25, finished the 100 freestyle in 1:02.7 but was disqualified. Horrego has the 50-meter freestyle and 200-meter breaststroke remaining.

Friday’s events are: 200 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 400 IM and 100 butterfly.

On Wednesday’s opening night, Bobby Finke of St. Petersburg Aquatics and Paige Madden of New York Athletic Club won the 1500-meter freestyle.

This is the last full national meet before the Olympic Trials in June in Indianapolis.
