PLANTATION, December 7, 2022—Two-time defending champion South Florida Aquatic Club, with 104 swimmers, heads the field for the 32nd annual Speedo Winter Championships at Plantation Aquatic Complex.
The much-anticipated meet, hosted by the City of Plantation and Plantation Swim Team, will feature some of the best clubs and swimmers in the Florida Gold Coast as well as out-of-state teams.
The four-day meet, one of the oldest and largest in the state, begins Thursday at 5 p.m. with relays and 1,650-yard freestyle event. Friday, Saturday and Sunday prelims are 8:30 a.m. and finals 5 p.m. Two pools are being used to accommodate the large field.
Other top teams competing are Azura Florida Aquatics, Eagle Aquatics, Pine Crest Swimming, St. Andrew’s Aquatics, Midtown Weston, Jupiter Dragons, Wahoos of Wellington and Metro Aquatics.

Juan Vallmitjana, 13, 1,650 freestyle 16:19.12; 500 freestyle 4:44.87.
Olivia Dinehart, 17, 200 IM, 2:02.93; 200 breaststroke 2:13.50; 100 freestyle 51.28; 400 IM 4:22.12; 50 breaststroke 28.95.
Javier Colmenares, 16, 200 IM, 1:53.96; 200 breaststroke 2:03.93; 50 breaststroke 26.73.
Jianna Amores, 12, 100 butterfly, 1:01.73.
Ricardo Roche, 23, 200 backstroke 1:48.24; 100 backstroke 50.63.
Former NSU University School, Pine Crest Swim Club and Missouri swimmer Jordy Groters, 26, of Aruba, founder and coach of Giants Aquatics, has 11 swimmers competing. In between coaching, Groters will also compete in the 100 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 50 breaststroke, 100 freestyle, 50 butterfly, 100 breaststroke and 100 IM.
