SOFLO Heads Field For FGC SCY BB Silvers Championship South

PEMBROKE PINES, February 25, 2021—The championship season continues for South Florida Aquatic Club this weekend with the Florida Gold Coast Short Course Yards BB Silvers Championship South.

The three-day meet begins Friday at Academic Village Pool at 6 p.m. with the 500-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley events.

The meet continues on Saturday and Sunday with boys and girls morning prelims and finals at 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. The 1,650-yard freestyle is Sunday at 3:15 p.m. between sessions.

The BB North Championships are being hosted by Lake Lytal Lightning.

Host SOFLO has the largest team entered with 105 swimmers (55 boys and 50 girls) in 426 individual events.

Among SOFLO’s top-seeded swimmers are:

Noah Mejias, 10, 500-yard freestyle, 6:52.18; 100-yard backstroke, 1:23.77.

Mariann Catalasan, 14, 400-yard individual medley, 5:01.17.

Jennamarie Brames, 17, 200-yard butterfly, 2:24.78; 100-yard butterfly, 1:05.01; 200-yard individual medley 2:20.79.

Luca Hincapie, 14, 200-yard butterfly, 2:17.75.

Sofia Osorio, 16, 100-yard individual medley, 1:08.02.

Christie Ann Lumsden, 9, 100-yard breaststroke, 1:33.93.

Matthew Jimenez, 12, 50-yard backstroke, 34.35.

Sofia Rodriguez, 10, 200-yard freestyle, 2:35.96.

Amelie Bicerne, 13, 200-yard freestyle, 2:05.98.

Among Florida Gold Coast teams competing at Lake Lytal and Academic Village Pool are: Azura, Boca Raton Swim Team, Coral Springs Swim Club, Delray Stingers, Eagle Aquatics, FAST, Florida Keys, Gulliver, Heritage Aquatics, Hurricane Aquatics, Jupiter Dragons, Lake Lytal Lightning, Martin County Swimming, Metro Aquatics, Miami Country Day, Midtown Weston, North Palm Beach, PAQ, Pine Crest, Plantation Swim Team, Pompano Beach Piranhas, Ransom Everglades, St. Andrew’s Aquatics, Shelton DoralSunrise Swimming, Swim Fort Lauderdale, TS Aquatics, Tsunamis Swim Team, Wahoos of Wellington and Westminster Academy.

Meet organizers will observe all COVID-19 safety protocols and social distancing. Athletes will be required to wear masks. No spectators are allowed at the meet.

Only coaches, athletes, officials and volunteers are allowed to attend. The meet will be live streamed on SOFLO’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
